Prayer Changes Things

My mother suffered a massive heart attack recently. Her heart stopped for a full eight minutes.

The doctors told my father to call the children and have them get to the hospital as soon as possible. Mom's prognosis didn't look good.

It was three o'clock in the morning when I phoned a good friend of mine to ask her to pray for my mother. As we soon afterward rushed to the hospital, I prayed that God would at least allow me to say goodbye to my mom before He would take her home.

When we met the doctors, they were very frank with us. Not only had she suffered a very serious heart attack, there was internal bleeding and her blood pressure was very low. They didn't give us much hope for her survival.

About half an hour later, one of the doctors came back -- this time, with a smile on his face. He said, "We don't know what happened. We can't explain it, but her blood count went up and her blood pressure went up as well."

But I could explain it: I knew that the friend I had phoned in the wee hours had prayed for my mother and that God had heard her prayers!

When we returned the next day to visit, my mother was still in an induced coma. Her blood pressure had dropped again, to about 93 over 40.

I had brought my Bible. I moved close to her and began reading Psalm 91 aloud. My sister, who was with me, grabbed my arm and pointed to the monitor. Mom's blood pressure had gone up!

I then read another Psalm... and it went up again! By the time I had finished reading, her blood pressure had gone up to about 120 over 60! Miracle after miracle!

When we went back the next day, the first thing the nurse said to me was, "She started getting better after the prayers."

Another friend of mine receives visions and special messages from Jesus. While praying for my mother, she got a message from Him for me. He said, "Tell my child that her mother is going to be well. She will do mighty things for me."

In her vision, my friend also saw an angel in my mother's hospital room. She reported to me that "…the angel is watching over her and will follow her home, protecting her."

After twelve days, she indeed left the hospital for home! The nurses and doctors were amazed at her "unusual" speedy recovery.

Because her heart had stopped for so long that fateful morning, we waited to see whether my mother might have brain damage from oxygen deprivation. Not at all—she seems sharper now than she did before!

So many people prayed for her, and God heard their prayers... and answered them all!

God is good... all the time... and all the time, God is good!
