Excuse Me

I closed my eyes and let the wall in Chipotle hold me up as I waited to order. It had been an emotional few months dealing with the death of my sister-in-law.

My body was weighted with lead and my heart numbed by pain. I needed to hear from God but He seemed to be missing. Suddenly, a tap on my shoulder and an unfamiliar voice caused me to turn around.

The young woman behind me sheepishly said, “Excuse me. I know this sounds really weird, but God wants me to pray for you. He wants you to know that He understands how tired you are and that He is going to give you energy and strength.”

Salty tears burned my eyes and spilled down my cheeks. I was speechless and completely humbled that God chose to answer my prayers through this stranger. She told me she did not know how to approach me, but the Lord told her, “Simply say ‘excuse me’.”

This dear woman prayed for me right there in Chipotle. God restored my spirit and soon, my physical energy soared. I’m thankful the woman who spoke to me obeyed God’s voice and courageously tapped a stranger on the shoulder.

God gave me a blessing that remained long after the burrito was gone.
